Membership dues may be tax deductible. Annual dues are calculated at 1/1000 of the Purchasing Power Parity for each person by country, based on the data from World Bank, 15 July 2005. Given a 2000 hour year (50 weeks at 40 hours per week) dues are roughly equal to two hours work for the average person.
